#1 Know your target audience
Step one is to identify your customer. Make a list of your target customer's top three or five characteristics. List out things like their age, profession, hobbies, etc. This will help you identify who you want to target for your social media posts. If your business is for everyone, like home repairs or insurance, focus on "near me" or pick a general area. You need to ensure you can serve people near you if possible.
2. Decide which social media networks work best for your social media marketing strategy
Did you know that 72% of Americans use social media, let us help you bring more eyes to your business?
Worldwide, people spend an average of 2 hours and 27 minutes per day on social media, and these numbers are growing!
Sites like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are all highly relevant platforms for spreading brand awareness or engaging with your customers. The question is, are these the right platforms for you and your business.
Some people might think you should be active in all of them, but that is not necessarily the best strategy. Being present on every social platform will make it harder to manage all of them effectively, and you’ll find yourself in a “Jack of all trades, master of none” situation.
For a small business, it's bests to focus on a couple of platforms and master those before you spread yourself too thin.
#3. Share interesting and relevant content!
Most important, share interesting content. People who follow you on social media want to see more than your ads and specials. Plan for the 80/20 rule, or even 75/25. The goal is that 75% of your content is fun, relevant information to your business, and 20% is pure sales content. If you are an entertaining, engaging social media presence, they will return for the coupons, offers, and discounts. All sales and down your throat is not what social is all about. There are other social media and digital content ways to build your sales leads and not make your social media boring!
